July 5–July 7, 2024 | Fulda Cathedral
Wim Becu | Baroque trombone, ensemble director
Weckmann Consort | Juan González, baroque trombone & Lea Suter, organ
The Weckmann Consort, together with Belgian baroque trombonist Wim Becu, invite you to an early music workshop at Fulda Cathedral from July 5 to 7, 2024. Singers and instrumentalists will learn, rehearse, and experience the unique Franco-Flemish polyphony from the Renaissance to the beginnings of Venetian polychorality with historical instruments .
We delve into the heyday of a musical style that was played in the courts and cathedrals of Europe in the 16th century. Franco-Flemish composers strove to create music that was even richer and more magnificent, with singers and instrumentalists. It forms the basis for the effective polyphony that later developed in Venice. The course is aimed at advanced amateur musicians, students, and professional musicians who want to further their education in early music on the cornett, Renaissance trombone, Renaissance recorder, viols, and voice.
