The Weckmann Consort, together with baroque trombonist Wim Becu and soprano Bettina Pahn, invite you to an early music workshop at Fulda Cathedral from May 22 to 25, 2025. Singers and instrumentalists willlearn, rehearse, and experience the unique masterpieces of Italian vocal polyphony from the Renaissance to polyphony to the beginnings of monody with historical instruments.

The singer, conductor, and composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (1525–1594) was considered a superstar of European vocal polyphony even during his lifetime. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of his birth, we will delve into the heyday of his musical style, which forms the basis for effective polyphony, including sacred "concerti" and "recitativi" with solo voices and basso continuo. In group and individual lessons, the course is aimed at advanced amateur musicians, students, and professional musicians who want to further their education in early music on voice, cornett, trombone, violin, viola da gamba, recorder, and dulcian.
