Tonos humanos – Spanish songs from the 16th and 17th centuries
"Tonoshumanos"encompasses the Spanish singing tradition of the 16th and 17th centuries. Based on the two most popular literary-musical genres – "romance" and "villancico" – "tono" developed as a genre for solo song (monody) accompanied by plucked or keyboard instruments. While "Tonos divinos" refers to sacred solo, duo, or polyphonic songs, "Tono humano" stands for a genre that encompasses virtually all forms of secular vocal music of the time. A musical delight in which the instruments engage in dialogue with the solo voice.
