Spanish Connection – Duo GlossArte & Runar Kjeldsberg

Duo GlossArte

WithSpanish Connection, the duo GlossArte and guitarist and lutenistRunar Kjeldsbergpresent a concentrated panorama of Spanish and European music from the 16th and 17th centuries. The focus is on the virtuosorecercadasbyDiego Ortiz, masterpieces of improvisational variation technique.

These are complemented by the expressive sonatasof Dario Castelloand the colorful works ofSelma y Salaverde, which impressively demonstrate the connection between Spanish tradition and the innovative spirit of early Baroque music.

WithGaspar Sanz's dance pieces, the program opens up to the folk idioms of the Spanish baroque guitar, full of rhythmic energy and melodic directness.

The unusual instrumentation—trombone, harpsichord/organ, and historical guitar/lute—creates a transparent, lively sound. This results in a clearly defined musical network between Spain and the European centers of early Baroque: precise, communicative, and full of expressiveness.
