Whether it was King Frederick II in Potsdam, Emperor Joseph II in Vienna, or various prince-archbishops in Salzburg: the music performed in this concert by the Elbipolis Baroque Orchestra Hamburg and the Bremen duo GlossArte transported many a crowned head into the sweetest of dreams at the time of its creation. For the three composers of the evening, CPE Bach, Johann Albrechtsberger, and Leopold Mozart, were all in the service of such high lords.
To make this dreamlike experience particularly intense for today's listeners, our concert features replicas of an alto trombone and a special harpsichord from that period. So you can close your eyes and authentically imagine yourself in the role of a king or emperor listening to the latest works of his court composer...
